This colonial shoe buckle was found off the south west corner of the flower gardens about three feet in front of the tree line(in zone 3 of my map), at about 6 to 7 inches deep. This style of buckle with the single tooth, was common from 1690 to 1720 but continued in use much later. The single tooth is fixed to the buckle. There is a spindle that would rotate with a longer fixed tooth attached to it, this piece is missing but you can see where it went in the spindle carriage just to the right of the fixed tooth.
This photo shows the missing piece drawn in place, so you can imagine what the buckle may have looked like complete.
Half of a Colonial spur buckle, most likely from the early to mid 18th century. This was found in the edge of the woods, southwest of the house directly behind the swing set.
Copper pendant found under the large magnolia tree in the flower garden just south of the house, between the house and the Magnolia tree.
1899 Barber Dime, the reverse side of the coin shows the "o" New Orleans mint mark. This Dime was found on the east side of the North wing of the house (this is the original structure), just outside the library window. This window was the original front door before the 1824 expansion of the south wing. The original door did not become a window however until the early 20th century.
Foot rest from an iron stirrup, found southwest of the flower garden under the big maple tree.
Plantation Hoe found in the center of the ditch in Quadrant 4 southeast of the guest cottage.
Possible gun part found a few feet north of the circle drive just west of the pole light.
